An elder in Katsina has torn down the roof of his house and sold it to rescue his son from gunmen

A farmer in Katsina, Saidu Faskari, tore off his roof and sold it for N100,000, a ransom to receive his son.

Premium Times published the photos below, which show when the roof of the man's house was being torn down for sale to artisans.

The elder decided to do so after failing to collect the money demanded by the robbers.

Saidu Faskari himself told the newspaper that he was abducted in December, where he spent 13 days in captivity.

Faskari Local Government Area is one of the areas most frequently attacked by militants in the state.

The area is one of 13 areas where Governor Aminu Masari has shut down communications in a bid to curb insecurity.
